Proceeds will benefit the Rotary Club of Wellesley programs and services:
- Preventing youth depression and suicide by teaching healthy coping skills through the Interact peer leadership program that directly connects with hundreds of Wellesley youth
- Buying books and tutoring for elementary grades
- Buying 500 trees for 4th graders each Arbor Day
The Peer Leadership and Depression Prevention Project acts to reduce the current 10% of Wellesley middle school students who report they experience suicidal ideation. Rotary trains Interact peer leaders to co-facilitate activities improving coping and problem-solving skills for all ages.
The Tutoring Project provides weekly after-school academic help to improve study skills along with books to improve reading for Wellesley elementary grade students.
The Arbor Day project keeps Wellesley green and fosters youth interest by delivering a sapling to 500 wellesley fourth graders to plant at home.
